Sheet Pan Pizza

Recipe by Gingham

A thick, crisp-bottomed pizza that feeds a family from one pan, with toppings everyone can choose.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Toppings you like, such as sliced mushrooms, peppers, or pepperoni

Method

  1. Let the dough sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, so it stretches easily.

  2. Heat the oven to 450°F with a rack in the lower third.

  3. Spread 2 tbsp of the oil over a 9 by 13 inch metal baking pan or quarter sheet pan. Set the dough on it and press and stretch it toward the edges. When it springs back, leave it 10 minutes and try again.

  4. Brush the top with the rest of the oil and spread on the sauce, leaving a 1/2-inch border.

  5. Scatter over the mozzarella, Parmesan, oregano, and toppings.

  6. Bake until the bottom is deep golden and the cheese is browned in spots, 18 to 22 minutes.

  7. Let it rest 5 minutes, then cut it into squares.
